Editor: We would like to thank you for your support over the years as we have endeavored to provide substance abuse prevention information and activities to help protect the children and youth of our community since 1988.
We love Willcox and we love Willcox kids even more — thus the Summer Activities program is pretty much the rock of our foundation. At this time, we are starting to gear up for Summer 2019 and are hoping to maintain our one-time fee of $10 per child ($25 max for families) to allow kids to participate in every class and activity that interests them.
We are planning to have a minimum of two activities each day from June 3 until Aug. 3, ranging from games and sports to arts and science — we think you will be happy to see our calendar rollout on May 1. We are excited this year to have the opportunity to have more older youths involved in our programs through our relationship with the Americorps/VISTA program and STEM-related projects.
Through grants and contracts we are able to provide funding for the majority of our activities throughout the year, but this one (which is actually the foundation we were built on) causes us to find ourselves having to ask for the support of our great community to completely fund. We are asking our local friends to consider making a tax-deductible contribution to WASA’s summer program, for which we will happily provide a receipt.
We will always attempt to put as much money as possible back into our communities’ future through our youth and local purchases.
