Darrel “Doc” Culp, 77, of Hereford, Texas, passed away March 25, 2019, in Hereford.

Memorial services were Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel of Hereford, with Karry Ormson officiating.

Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Doc was born Nov. 4, 1941, to Jessie Bradford and Jewell (Lambert) Culp in Petersburg, Texas. He was a resident of Hereford and Friona, Texas, from 1955 to 1965, where he also attended school.

He moved in 1965 to Kansas Settlement, where he farmed, and in 1971, he was a mechanic for New Holland for six to eight months. In 1972, he worked for Renner Irrigation as a mechanic in Willcox for a short time. In 1974, he worked for Valley Farm Parts of Elfrida, where he also managed the store. In 1991, he opened his own parts store in Benson until he retired in 2009. He moved back to Hereford in 2011.

Doc enjoyed anything that had to do with mechanics. He loved working on his pickup, he enjoyed listening to his older country music, watching movies, especially NASCAR, and he loved going to the mountains.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his two sons, Keith Culp and his wife, Danelle, and Chad Culp and his wife, Jeanie, all of Hereford; four grandchildren, Erika Wiechec and her husband. T.J., of Amarillo, Texas, Kegan Culp and his wife, Hannah, of Hereford, Nicole Crawford and her husband, Ethan, of Amarillo, and Brittany Culp, of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Corbin Wiechec, of Amarillo; the mother of his children, Ramona Vance, and her husband Jim, of Missouri; and his ex-wife, LeeAnn Culp, of Richmond, Va.

Doc is preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Jan Bradford and Sonja Paetzold; and one brother, Eddie Culp.
