SAN SIMON — Valley Telephone Cooperative Foundation announced that 52 scholarships of $3,000 each have been awarded to students across Valley’s serving territory in Arizona and New Mexico.
The highest number of scholarships ever awarded by the foundation, totaling $156,000, will be distributed for the upcoming 2019-20 school year, supporting the higher education goals of area students.
Valley Telephone Cooperative Board President David Thompson said, “We are so pleased to be able to provide scholarships in our communities to worthy students who invest in their future through higher education. Since 2003, Valley Telephone Cooperative Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships, and we look forward to continuing this program.”
Scholarship recipients were recognized at Valley Telephone Cooperative’s annual meeting May 4, 2019, in San Simon.
Valley Telephone Cooperative has been serving communities in southern Arizona and New Mexico since 1962, providing high-speed internet, local phone, long distance and business solutions.
