Tractors, mud and homemade ice cream combined to make another successful event in Willcox on the Fourth of July.
DC Carriers and AZ Truck & Tractor Pulling sponsored the fund-raising event for the Northern Cochise Nursing Home Association (NCNHA), a nonprofit 501c3 organization working to establish a nursing home in the area.
On a day that celebrates freedom, there were many free things available — such as homemade ice cream, hot dogs and lemonade, as well as free admission to the event itself.
Asked about results for the tractor pulls and the bike mud run, event organizer Carol Dunagan said, “No. It was all just fun pulls. Mud run kids got prizes — Dairy Queen certificates, bubble blowing, sun glasses — just kid stuff.”
Dunagan, who is also an NCNHA member, thanked everyone who attended the tractor pulls and the mud run.
“We are working to get a nursing home back in the Willcox area,” she said, adding that NCNHA is currently seeking grants and contributions to get a marketing study done.
She calls the study “an essential step in the process of finding investors that would be interested in a facility in Willcox.”
NCNHA meetings are held the second Monday of each month at the Elsie S. Hogan Library, 100 N. Curtis Ave. For more information go to the NCNHA website, https://ncnha.weebly.com/nursing-home-beds.html, or to its Facebook page.
