Debaun scores again

Senior tailback Tanner Debaun eludes a Lordsburg tackler on the way to a 48-yard touchdown gallop Friday night in Willcox.

Three touchdown gallops and 242 yards rushing from senior tailback Tanner Debaun helped the Willcox Cowboys race to a 30-0 half-time lead and cruise to a 44-18 thrashing of the Lordsburg Mavericks in the varsity football opener at Cowboy stadium Friday.“There’s no such thing as a perfect game. We try to strive for it and we were just a little off of a perfect game,” said head coach Alonzo Highsmith.

The Cowboys were able to frustrate the Mavericks into turning the ball over eight times, led by three interceptions by senior AJ Fuentes, who also caught a touchdown pass early in the game to help Willcox lead 16-0 in the game’s first four minutes.
