Cowboy Hall of Fame tickets
The Cowboy Hall of Fame Dinner is the Chamber's way of honoring the spirit of those past and present cowboys who worked to build this area.
The Willcox Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture invites the public to attend the 28th Annual Cowboy Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 30. The Doors will open at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 300 W. Stewart. Inductees into the Cowboy Hall of Fame this year are Robert Krentz, Mrs. Terry Burgess and Tom Kuykendall. This year's Master of Ceremonies will be Eddie Browning.
Dinner will be a traditional cowboy fare of steaks and all the "fixings" at a cost of $25 per person. Tickets usually go fast and seating is limited, so please make your reservations early by calling the Willcox Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture at (520) 384-2272.
Rex Allen Days Rodeo Queen
Rex Allen Days is right around the corner. Time to grab your jeans, dust off your hat, shine those boots and try out for Rodeo Queen! We need young ladies between the ages of 16 and 24 who love the "cowboy lifestyle!"

Sunsites Farmers Market begins
The Sunsites Farmers' & Artisans Market will be held every Saturday through Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sunsites Community Golf Course in cool Sunsites.
With a view of beautiful Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains between Benson and Willcox, it's a great way to support the community and pick up some delicious, local organic produce, baked goods, preserves, local authors, mesquite wood, local beans, pistachios, fair-trade African basketry, handmade silver jewelry & more.
Also, the golf course restaurant is open, so start or finish your day with a nice breakfast or lunch. All fees go to support the Sunsites Golf Course.

A lunch meal is served to adults over the age of 60 each Monday through Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the NCCH Annex corner of Rex Allen Drive and Bowie Avenue.
We are closed on Friday and all Federal Holidays.

Grief support group begins
Charles W. Leighton, Jr. Hospice will be starting a new eight-session grief support group that is FREE of charge and open to any adult who has lost a loved one. You are not alone - come join us in sharing experiences, healing and hope (a book will be provided). We meet in Willcox, but are also interested in starting a group in the Sunsites area.

Special ed records to be destroyed
Special education records collected by the Willcox Unified School District are maintained for a period of five years after special education services have ended for a student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, withdraws from the district, graduates or completes his or her educational program.
Records for students no longer receiving special education services on or before August of 2005 will be destroyed in accordance with Arizona state law. Parents/guardians or eligible adult students can contact Rob Jones at 384-8736 by Sept. 15 to obtain a copy of records.

Nominations are now being taken for the following:
FRONT-LINE EMPLOYEE - A front line employee is the first person to come in contact with the customer. He/she is the person who meets/greets the public. Examples of employees eligible to receive this award are: wait staff, receptionists, cashiers.
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR - Must be a member of the Willcox Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture. Located in Willcox trade area. Has been in business at least two years and supports and is involved in the community.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR - A person that contributions to the welfare and betterment of the community. Evidence of lasting contribution to the community. Participation in community activities and civic enterprises. Evidence of personal and business progress. Cooperation with individuals and civic organizations.
AG PERSON OF THE YEAR - A person that works in Agriculture and strives to help Ag business progress and succeed in the Willcox trade area. A person that contributions to the welfare and betterment of their community.
AG BUSINESS OF THE YEAR - An Ag Business that is located in Willcox trade area and has been in business at least two years. That shows evidence of progress in their business and is involved and supports their community. A business that contributes to the welfare and betterment of their community.

Advisors for adult center wanted
The Learning Center at NCCH is seeking letters of interest from older adults (age 60 and over) willing to volunteer as members of a Community Advisory Council.
Community Council Members will volunteer with community leaders and hospital staff to provide input and support for the operation of the Learning Center.
Letters are due by Wednesday, Sept. 1. Meetings will be held three times per year. Term lengths to be determined.
Community Advisory Council meetings will be held at the hospital.

RAD 2010 Pulling Extravaganza
Arizona Truck and Tractor Pulling present Rex Allen Days 2010 Pulling Extravaganza, at 450 E Grant Street, across the tracks on Maley Street and turn right on 2nd Avenue.
Events are modified tractors, antique tractors, mini-rods, and street stock pickups.
Friday, Oct. 1
2 p.m., Antique Tractors;
6 p.m., mandatory drivers meeting;
6:30 p.m. Street Stock Pick-ups, Modified Tractors and Mini-Rods.

Coaches needed for U-12 youth soccer

Theology & Toast on Tuesday
The Willcox United Methodist Church, 124 S Curtis, invites you to join us for "Theology & Toast on Tuesday". Participants meet for a light breakfast and Bible study on Tuesday mornings in the fellowship hall from 7 - 8 a.m. Starting Sept. 7, we will begin a study of the Pentateuch or the first five books of the Old Testament using the Inductive Study Series by Kay Arthur.

AWANA Club starts Thursday
Willcox AWANA Club is starting Sept. 2 at First Baptist Church, 321 W. Maley St. Club Night is from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
All children ages 3 years old to 6th grade are welcome.

Hunting workshop for youth in Safford
The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering a free squirrel hunting workshop for young hunters Sept. 24 to Sept. 26 at Mt. Graham in Safford.
Biologists and volunteers will teach young hunters ages seven to 15 such topics as:
Hunting and firearms safety,
Squirrel ecology and management,
Species identification,
How to prepare equipment and clothing for a hunt,
Where to locate and hunt squirrels,
How to clean and cook squirrels.
All meals, firearms and ammunition will be provided. The program begins Friday afternoon and ends noon Sunday. Hunters ages 14 and 15 must purchase a hunting license. The workshop is limited to 20 young hunters, each accompanied by an adult, and registration is by email or phone on a first come, first serve basis. Mark your calendars! Possibly the most important political action you will take other than voting on election day! Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. - All Voters - All Candidates - All Parties are welcome to a "Non-partisan" Meet and Greet at the Willcox Community Center, 2 Blocks west of Haskell Avenue (Business-10) on Stewart Street in Willcox.
The community center has ample room for candidates, parties and ballot measures, initiatives and causes to set up displays. Set up begins at 4:30 p.m. and the Meet and Greet will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Refreshments provided.
