A Willcox man, already awaiting sentencing on burglary charges, has now been charged with one count each of sexual conduct with a minor and domestic violence/sexual assault.

Forty-one-year-old Gerry Ray Dean was arrested Sunday, Aug. 22, and is currently in custody on a million dollar cash bond.

At about 12:15 p.m. that same day, the 17-year-old female victim went to the Willcox Police Department to report that she has been sexually assaulted for about eight years.

According to court documents, Dean allegedly assaulted the victim about six times during 2010 alone.

At about 4:23 p.m., Willcox police contacted Dean, who "immediately began telling me that he had done things with (the minor) that he regrets," the police report said.

Dean said that "the sexual intercourse was consensual, but changed his story," according to the police report.

The defendant told police that he was high on drugs - cocaine and marijuana.

Dean was put under arrest and taken to the Willcox jail.

Held on a $1 million cash bond, Dean is considered a flight risk to avoid prosecution and "may attempt to commit more offenses if not incarcerated," according to the police report.

At the video initial appearance, Judge Trevor J. Ward ordered Dean to appear at an "early disposition court hearing" at Justice of the Peace Court No. 4 at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
