Donna Lee (Evans) Guthrie, 59, of Sunsites, Ariz., passed away Aug. 10, 2010 in Tucson, Ariz., after a brief battle with leukemia. She was born April 21, 1951, at Mare Island Naval Hospital in Vallejo, Calif.
She married Mark Guthrie on April 7, 2002, in Tombstone, Ariz. Donna had a disability retirement from the San Diego, Calif. Police Department after a service-related injury. She had a love and enthusiasm for geo-caching, quilting, beading, weaving, animals, camping and traveling. She was an Avesa Quantum Healer Level II, Wisdom Teacher Sri Ram Kaa and Angelic Oracle Kira Raa. Besides her husband, Mark, she is survived by a daughter, Tashie Thomas and grandghildren, Ciera Thomas, Brexton Thomas and Braiden Thomas, all of Millersburg, Ohio; her parents, Duane and Deanna (Beamer) Evans of Sunsites and Dorothy (Goubeaud) Evans of Riverside, Calif.; brothers, Daniel (Roxanna) Evans of Cochise, Ariz. and Charles (Katie) Hyatt of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Julie Smith of Stroudsburg, Pa. and Shari (Woody) Simmons of Norfolk, Va.; grandmother, Mina (Hurley) Detrick of Sunsites; several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Joey. Donna was pre-deceased by a sister, Britta Sue Evans.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna's memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at The Community Church of Sunsites, corner of Treasure Road and Lansing Road, Sunsites.
