Leslie "Les" Burgess Sr. of Willcox died at home Aug. 10, 2010 at the age of 65. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 23, 1945 to Arlen and Ardella Burgess and moved to Arizona shortly after.
Les was a retired Baker and a member of St. Jude Thadeus Catholic Church in Pearce/Sunsites. On Sept. 3, 1966 in Tucson he married Mary Scalf whom survives him.
Les is also survived by his children, Leslie "Bobby" Burgess, Jr. of Mesa, Ariz. and daughter-in-law Emy Rodriguez, Christine Struppa (Richard Hohenstein) of Redgranite, Wis., and Arlen (Jennifer) Burgess of Waupaca, Wis.; and his grandchildren Michael (Catrina), Kaylene and Seth; and great-grandchildren Lauren and Lane. Also surviving are his brothers Timothy Howard Burgess of Tucson and Edward Pound of Oregon; sisters Carrel Ann Pound of Oregon and Arlene Pierce of Oklahoma; and a sister-in-law Jean Grier of California. Preceding him in death was his parents and one brother.
Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, Aug. 13, at St. Jude Thadeus Catholic Church.
