WMS: a Performing Plus school again

WMS makes Performing Plus status for second year! A hearty congratulations to the Willcox Middle School faculty, staff and students for achieving a Performing Plus School rating for the second year in a row. The hard work and team effort that made this possible will continue to be the hallmark at WMS. We look forward to this year being another great year for the teachers and students.

The new four-day school year starts Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 7:25 a.m. School is dismissed at 3:45 p.m. The Middle School office will be open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. beginning Aug. 2.

1. Students returning from last year do not need to pre-register.

2. New students may pick up registration materials in the Middle School office beginning July 26. A birth certificate, current immunization record and proof of residency are required to register for school.


3. Letters with homeroom assignments and schedules were sent out to all pre-registered students during the last week of July.

4. Mr. Patterson and Mr. Bennett will be available beginning Aug. 2 to discuss any schedule and/or homeroom changes.

5. Don't forget the new route for dropping students off and picking them up. The front parking lot of the Middle School is now restricted to buses only. Parents may drop off and pick up their students on South Lawson Lane behind the Middle School athletic field. Access to S. Lawson Lane is on Airport Rd.

6. Call 384-4218 if you have questions or if you have not received your Back to School letter.

Open House- Middle School Open House will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. A schedule will be sent home with students the first week of school.

School Pictures

Fall picture day at the Middle School is on Thursday, Aug. 17. The pictures taken in the fall must be paid for at the time the picture is taken. Information will be coming home the week before picture day. Currently, there is no scheduled picture day in the spring.

MS Site Council

All parents of Middle School Students and any interested community members are invited to become part of the Middle School Site Council. The Site Council is made up of parents, community members, teachers and classified staff. Call the MS office if you are interested in getting more information on this opportunity to participate in the education and welfare of our students.

Football and Volleyball - our first football game of the season will be on Aug. 26 at Huachuca City. The Volleyball team will be playing at home also against Coronado on Sept. 1. Come out and cheer on our student athletes!
