Celebrate the Arts! at Cochise College Benson Center

Celebrate the Arts! is in full swing at Cochise College Benson Center March 17-20.

Wednesday's fare features beading with Stella Bennett from 10 a.m. to noon and a crochet workshop with Dianne Mulkey during the day. The Benson Barbershoppers, with The Minstrels will offer up a full bodied, foot-stomping Irish Singalong from 5-6:30 p.m. that you won't want to miss!

The rest of the week will be full as well: Thursday, Howard Bandy gives his workshop on turning your manuscript into a book, from 10 a.m.-noon. Paper Making takes place at the same time, from 10-noon, and creative writing will be from 2-4 p.m.

On Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m., Gareth MacKenzie, the famous Celtic bard, will perform in costume.


Friday's events include a demonstration of the encaustic process from 10 a.m.-noon and later, from 7-8:30 p.m. Nancy Turner, author of several books on early American life will discuss the books and sign them.

Saturday, March 20 will be the finale of our week long event, with the presentation of the art awards for the Art and Photography show, topped off with the rousing mariachi music of the Mariachi Aztlan de Puelbo High School band, under the direction of John Contreras.

San Pedro River Arts Council hopes you'll partake of at least some of what's being offered this week! Pick up a brochure in many public places in the County.
