1924-2010
Beloved Mother and Grandmother, a resident of Sunsites, died peacefully at home with her family on Feb. 24, 2010. Born Aug. 10 1924 in Crockett, Texas, she grew up in Texas through the Dust Bowl era and WWII, relocating to California where she met and married Thomas Andrew Lyke, and began living the adventure of a military wife. They transferred to many places: Virginia, England, Washington and Arizona, lastly moving to Sunsites.
Mary was known for her unconditionally loving, patient, forgiving nature. Never one to complain, she lived her life with dignity and courage. A very sweet and gentle lady; "You will be missed."
Mary is survived by her son Ronald Jennings of Phoenix, daughter Carolyn Heard of Sunsites, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Tom, of 54 years; her son Bobby Glen Jennings, and granddaughter Rhonda Jennings.
Graveside memorial services will be held at the old Pearce Cemetery, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Charles Wm Leighton Jr. Hospice, PO Box 115, Willcox, AZ 85644.
