GED class registration begins
GED class registration for the upcoming 8-week session will be held March 3 and March 8-10 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Willcox Cochise College, Room 5.
Classes will begin March 22 and run Monday through Wednesday through May 3.
It requires about two hours for registration and pretesting. We are available to help prepare you for the GED Test or just to refresh skills that will help with everyday living.
WOW planning meeting Saturday
A kick-off meeting for 2011 Wings Over Willcox Birding and Nature Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, at Coronado Vineyards. Persons interested in helping are welcome to attend.
Donations sought for Bike Rodeo
The Willcox Department of Public Safety will hold its Annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, April 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Willcox Middle School. The Bicycle Rodeo is open to all kids ages 6 to 13.
This year the Willcox Department of Public Safety will be giving away eight new bicycles to the girl and boy from each age group with the highest overall test scores from their respective age groups. Each child will be required to attend a safety class, have his or her bicycle inspected by the Willcox Fire Department, take a written exam, and successfully complete an obstacle course portion of the event. Each child must wear an approved bicycle helmet. The Willcox Department of Public Safety will be giving bicycle helmets to any child who does not have one.
The Willcox Department of Public Safety is asking for donations to help defray the cost of this event (i.e. new bicycles, bicycle helmets, bicycle locks and other accessories). NCCH scholarships available
Northern Cochise Community Hospital Inc., is now accepting scholarship applications from students pursuing their education in the healthcare field.

WES parent committee to meet
PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Willcox Elementary School library.

The Amerind Musuem in Dragoon will have Seri Indian basket makers and carvers demonstrating their art in the Museum on Sunday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friends of the Library scholarships
Graduating seniors! Are you interested in a career in teaching, languages, journalism, computers, communication, or library science? Perhaps you've been involved with the Tag Magazine or the Library Teen Program and set your own personal goal outside of these areas.
The Friends of the Library are offering a $1,500 scholarship to a qualifying senior wishing to pursue a higher education in any of these fields, or as a member of the library program, a field of your choice. Follow your dreams and let us help you by picking up a scholarship application at the library or Willcox High School Counselor's Office. You must turn your paper work back in by Wednesday, March 31.
Road construction at Marsh Station
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has begun work to construct a new Marsh Station Traffic Interchange approximately 1.6 miles east of the existing Marsh Station Traffic Interchange.
On Wednesday, March 3, and Thursday, March 4, the contractor will place temporary barrier in preparation of upcoming work. The work will require intermittent lane closures in both directions along this section of Interstate-10. One travel lane in each direction will be open at all times, and 12 foot width restrictions will be in place during the temporary lane restrictions.
During peak traffic periods, slower travel should be expected.
No interchange ramps will be affected by the temporary lane closure. The project also includes realigning about three miles of the Union Pacific Railroad line to the north of I-10.
LCO Beta offers scholarships
The Lambda Chi Omega (LCO) Beta Chapter is sponsoring two $1,000 scholarships and a $750 scholarship.
One $1,000 scholarship goes to a graduating Willcox High School senior who plans to attend a college, trade, or technical school; and the other to a Willcox High School graduate who has completed at least one year of schooling in a college, trade, or technical school.
The $750 scholarship, the Sherry Gunther Adams Memorial Scholarship, will go to a student with a mother or grandmother who is an active or alumna member of LCO Beta.
Applications are now available from Sheryl Patterson in the counselor's office at Willcox High School. The deadline to turn in applications to Patterson is 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 31. For further information, call Patterson at (520) 384-4214.
Elfrida Art Center youth reception
Elfrida Art Center, Inc. cordially invites you to a reception for the youth and the artists of Elfrida Art Center, Inc., on March 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Douglas Art Association Building, located next to the Post Office on 11th Ave. in Douglas.

The Art League of Willcox is sponsoring the 27th annual Ann Boyd Wade Fine Art & Photography Show at the Willcox Community Center, 312 W. Stewart St. Show dates are Friday, April 23 through Sunday, April 25, with the Artist Reception set for Saturday, April 24 from 2 to 5 p.m.
The show is free to the public, and is open to all artists and photographers. The categories are Youth I, Youth II, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Many of the entries in the show will be for sale to the public.
Fees (per item) are Youth (K-12) - $2, Working Willcox Art League Members - $5, Non-working Willcox Art League Member - $8, and All Others - $10.
Deadline for entries is March 31, 2010.
Numerous ribbons, cash awards and sponsor awards are given each year.
