Willcox City Council primary election

The City of Willcox primary election will be held Tuesday, March 9, at City Council Chambers, 300 W. Rex Allen Drive.
Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Sample ballots are available at all city offices.
Any candidate receiving a majority of all votes cast at the primary election will be elected without running in the general election, scheduled for Tuesday, May 18.
Voters may vote for up to four candidates.
Council members hold four-year overlapping terms.
The new terms will begin in June 2010, and expire in June 2014.
The election is open to all registered voters within the city limits.
Voters will need to show identification at the polls to receive a ballot in the March primary.
Proposition 200, passed by Arizona voters in November 2004, requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote, as well as photo identification at the polls.
Under this law, a voter must announce his name and place of residence to the election official at the polling place and present one form of ID that bears his name, address, and photograph, or two forms of ID that bear his name and address.
Voters unable to produce ID will not be given a ballot and will be instructed to return with appropriate ID.
In addition, voter registration information must match the ID.
If the name or address on the ID does not correspond with the information on the polling place roster, the voter will be given a provisional ballot, which must be verified by the county recorder before being counted.
Acceptable forms of photo ID include a valid Arizona driver's license or non-operating identification license; a tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification; or a valid United States federal, state, or local government-issued identification.
Acceptable forms of non-photo ID include:
the voter's utility bill dated within 90 days of the election. (The bill may be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, sewer, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television.)
a bank or credit union statement dated within 90 days of the election;
a valid Arizona vehicle registration;
an Indian census card;
the voter's residential property tax statement;
a tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification;
a vehicle insurance card;
a recorder's certificate;
a valid U.S. federal, state, or local government-issued identification, including a voter registration card issued by the county recorder.
The county recorder's office said Friday that there are 1,628 registered voters in Willcox.
There was a 18.83 percent voter turnout during the 2008 city primary election, with 1,476 voters then, said officials with the county elections office.
