Willcox Cowbelles' Dinner Dance
On Saturday, March 13, join the Willcox Cowbelles for an evening of western entertainment at the Marguerite Cook Memorial Scholarship Dinner Dance at the Willcox Elks Club. The festivities begin with a silent auction, raffles and social hour at 6 p.m. A prime rib dinner, cooked by the excellent chefs at the Elks, will be served at 7 p.m. followed by a live auction. "Ted Scanlon & The Desperados" will provide western swing dance music from 8 p.m. until midnight.
The Desperados were formed in Las Cruces, N.M. in 1976 and have become one of the top western swing bands in the nation. They have appeared with such legendary performers as Asleep at the Wheel, Bob Wills' Texas Playboys, Ray Price, Hank Thompson, George Jones, Billy Walker, Loretta Lynn, Lynn Anderson and Johnny Bush. The band has received nominations for awards from Academy of Western Artists and for the prestigious Will Rogers Awards. In 2004 they were named the Western Swing Duo/Group of the year.
Due to the generosity of the community at last year's dinner dance, the Willcox Cowbelles were able to award $10,800 in scholarships to area students.
Tickets are $30 per person for the dinner and dance and $10 per person for the dance only. Payment for Dinner-Dance tickets must be received by March 5; dance only tickets may be purchased at the door. Open seating, doors will open at 5:30 p.m. No minors (under 18 years of age).
For tickets or further information call (520) 384-2791 or (520) 384-3105 or contact any Cowbelles member or send a check in the appropriate amount to: Willcox Cowbelles, P. O. Box 354, Willcox, AZ 85644.
