Repaving Montezuma Canyon Road

Published: Wednesday, February 24, 2010 12:39 PM CST
The paved road in Coronado National Memorial from the entrance sign to the end of the paved portion is being repaved due to water damage from the 2006 and 2008 floods as well as normal wear and tear. Pulverizing and repaving began Feb. 22 and will end approximately March 15. Portions of the road will be reduced to one lane throughout the construction period, with the potential for up to 20-minute delays. During the weeks of February 22 and March 1, there will be intermittent closures of 1-2 days of the picnic area and visitor center. There will be no construction delays on weekends.

The cave and cave trail will be closed on Monday, February 22 and Tuesday February 23 2010 due to heavy equipment operating in the parking area at the new trailhead. Future closures of 1-2 days may occur during the paving process. Please call the visitor center for current conditions and closures at 520-366-5515.
