Congratulations to the Willcox Elks Lodge #2131 Ritual Team for coming in first place at District competition held in Tucson on Jan. 23.

Of the eleven Lodges competing in the South District, Willcox received the highest total scores of any competing lodge in the district. Willcox now moves on to the state convention to be held in Phoenix on May 22 to compete against seven other Lodges. The winner of the state competition will go on to Orlando, Fla., to represent Arizona at the National Convention.

Out of eight team members, an impressive five first place finishes were won. These first place winners are Rick Diggs, Inner Guard; Becky Fortenberry, Chaplain; Billy Montano, Esteemed Lecturing Knight; Lucy Wilson, Esteemed Leading Knight; and Richard Regalado, Exalted Ruler. In addition to these five first place finishes, Mike Fortenberry, Esteemed Loyal Knight and Chanse Bruns, Esquire both finished less than one percentage point out of first place. The Coaches for the team are Larry Hamel and Cody Ryan.

These team members have been practicing every Monday night all year; their dedication has certainly paid off. When you see these dedicated officers, give them a pat on the back and wish them good luck a state. Wouldn't it be great if a small town like Willcox could represent the state of Arizona at National Convention?

You may notice fundraisers starting up to raise money for these officers to get to the state convention. Please give generously to this worthy cause; they represent all our members and our Lodge. Congratulations and a job well done!
