The Willcox Elks Lodge #2131 will host its annual Charity Ball and Auction on Saturday, Feb. 6. This annual event, which is open to the public, is held to raise funds that are directly returned to the youth in our community.

Some of the ways the Elks do this it by scholarships for graduating seniors; The "Hoop Shoot" basketball competition where a local youth, Chris Granado will be representing the South District at the state competition this year; the "Soccer Shoot" soccer kicking competition; the Elk's Clothe-A-Child where we spend over $100 per needy child at Christmas, clothing 47 kids this past December. A Christmas party for Foster Children is held annually in December at the Lodge as well. Additionally, we raise fund to donate to the Elk's Major projects, such as the Children's Research Center in Tucson

The Elks Lodge also hosted the FY09-10 Football, Cross Country, Wrestling and Soccer High School teams awards banquets, donating ALL the food for the teams and their guest, as well as the preparing and serving of the food was all done by volunteers. The Lodge also donated and prepared the food for the Band/Orchestra fund-raising dinner.

This year also saw the Lodge host a Veteran's Day Lunch for veterans of all wars; over 60 meals were served, free of charge to veterans and their guests. Lodge volunteers also prepare and serve the Run For the Wall motorcycle event annually each year.

We will start the evening with a delicious steak dinner, starting at 6:30 p.m. A dance will follow dinner. The band DESERT THUNDER, from Safford, will be playing for your dancing and listening pleasure.

Throughout the evening, silent and live auctions will be held. Cost for the dinner, dance, and good time is $40 per couple or $20 single. Dress attire is anything from western to formal and ALL are welcome. Admission to the dance only can be had for $5 with tickets purchased at the door. Contact the Lodge at 520-384-2131 for more information, or to purchase your ticket.

Anyone wishing to donate items or cash for the auction can contact Pat Stark, Lucy Wilson or Rick Diggs.
