Small-acreage landowner workshops Feb. 16, 17

Published: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 11:22 AM CST
The first in a series of five workshops designed for small acreage landowners will feature "Know Your Soils-Part 1" and be held in the following two locations: Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Palominas Fire Station Training Center in Hereford and again on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Double Adobe School in Mc Neal.

Landowners are asked to bring a paper bag with quart sized sample of the soils on their land to the workshop. This workshop will provide excellent information for anyone interested in gardening or other crops on a small scale, raising pasture, or preventing erosion on their land.

Presenters will be Soils Specialists from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. The morning session will be classroom type presentations and the afternoon will be an outdoor "hands on" opportunity to learn about your soils.

Subsequent workshops will be held monthly.

Sign-in and registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the event starting at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. Cost will be $15 per person, and includes lunch and reference book. Couples will cost $25 and includes lunch, but only one reference book.

Register no later than Thursday, Feb. 11 by contacting Kim Webb at the Coronado RC&D Office, Willcox, Arizona at (520) 384-2229 x124 or kim.webb@rcdnet.net.
