By Carol Broeder/Arizona Range News
And then there were seven...
That's the number of people running for four seats on the Willcox City Council.
They turned in their packets by the 5 p.m. deadline on Wednesday, Dec. 9, to be eligible for the upcoming city election.
Of the candidates, four are incumbents running for the seats they presently fill. They are Mayor Gerald "Sam" Lindsey, Vice Mayor Larry Schultz, Councilman Jimmy Norris, and Councilwoman Monika Cronberg.
The other three candidates are Robert A. "Bob" Irvin, Paul Sheats, and William "Bill" Holloway.
Four council seats with four-year terms will be on the March 9, 2010 primary ballot.
Any candidate receiving a majority of all votes cast at the primary election will be declared elected without running in the general election, scheduled for May 20, 2010.
City council members hold four-year overlapping terms. The new council members will begin their terms in June 2010.
