Holiday Support Group to meet

The holidays are here and Hospice wants to invite you to attend our Holiday Support Group. For those who have lost a loved one, it can be a particularly difficult time when surrounded by messages to be merry and joyful. The Holiday Grief Support Group is free of charge.

We will share ideas on surviving the holidays and continuing your healing. Knowing that you are not alone can lighten your load and sharing with others can bring comfort. All those who have lost a loved one (not just those who have used Hospice) are welcome. Come join us in remembering and honoring those dear to us.

The Holiday Support Group meets Thursday, Dec. 17, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Charles W. Leighton, Jr. Hospice Office, 524 W. Maley Place in Willcox.

You do not need to call to attend the Holiday Support Group.

Christmas on Main St. art

The San Pedro River Arts Council will be hosting an art show entitled "Art is Ageless," in conjunction with Christmas on Main St. in Benson.

Primary and Middle schoolers through the 8th grade, have been invited, and we are looking for senior artists, and those young at heart to also display their work.

There is no fee and no jury. The show is for one day only, Dec. 12, and will be in the large building at 500 Highway 80, on the corner of 7th St. in Benson.

There will be live music, food and drinks, and we will have people who love kids to help them with making Christmas decorations for our tree there.

Email Sylvia at bensonartsbelle@mac.com for details, or visit www.sprarts.org.

Make NCNH holidays special

It's that time of year again, Christmas is near. At Northern Cochise Nursing Home, we always try to make it a very special time. Many of our residents have no family near, so our staff and our community become their family.

We will have an "Angel Board" that will be hung in the nursing home on Nov. 30.

Please come in and pick an angel. On the back of each angel is the information you will need to choose or make a gift (i.e. male, female, size etc.).

Thank you so much for the overwhelming participation last year and to all our volunteers who give the gift of their time and patience.

Be an angel this special season and pick one of our angels to show you care.

Salvation Army bell ringers

The Willcox Salvation Army is asking for bell ringer volunteers to assist with holiday kettle collections.

Our local Willcox chapter of the Salvation Army is self-funded through donations provided from individuals, and business within our community. During the holiday season and winter months, the Salvation Army is called upon the most to assist those in need. The donations received through our holiday kettles are critical in providing emergency assistance to individuals and families in need.

Please consider volunteering your time to Ring our Bell this holiday season. If you would like to volunteer for the Salvation Army, please contact Penney Bell at 520-766-4231.
