COUNTY CLINICS
H1N1 VaccINation clinics: The Cochise County Health Department is announcing the continuation of its H1N1 vaccination clinics of this flu season.
The next series of clinics will only accept patients in the Tier 1 Priority Group and healthy children aged 5 through 18 years of age.
Three clinics will be held this week:
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 3 - 7 p.m.: Willcox Health Department, 450 S. Haskell, Willcox
Thursday, Nov. 19, 3 - 7 p.m.: Benson High School (cafeteria), 360 S. Patagonia St., Benson
Friday, Nov. 20, 3 - 7 p.m.: Douglas High School (cafeteria), 1500 Fifteenth St., Douglas
All H1N1 vaccinations given by the Health Department are free of charge. Doses will be administered on a first come, first served basis.
CDC Tier 1 Priority Group for Vaccination:
Pregnant women,
Children aged 6 months to 4 years,
Persons who live with or provide care for infants aged less-than-6 months (e.g., parents, siblings, and daycare providers),
Health-care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material,
Children and adolescents aged 5 to18 years that have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications (e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart or lung conditions, and suppressed immune system)
Parents of children less than 10 years of age whose children received their first H1N1 vaccination from the Health Department are reminded that their child can receive their second dose at the clinics noted above. A minimum of 21 days between the first and second doses is required.
Both nasal spray and injectable formulations of the vaccine will be available. Vaccine will not be administered to patients that are sick with fever or have flu-like symptoms, that are allergic to eggs, or that have received a nasal mist seasonal flu vaccination within the past 30 days. Potential recipients will be further screened at the clinic. All parents are asked to bring their children's immunization records (the VFC "Blue Card") with them.
For patients with underlying medical conditions the Health Department suggests that they bring with them information that confirms their diagnosis.

CoCHISE STRONGHOLD LIONS CLUB is holding a yard sale in Sunsites on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20- 21 at the Desert Moon Coffee House, 111 N. Frontage Road, next door to Apache Hardware. Sale hours are from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. If you have items you would like to donate, call Judy Weston at 826-1801 or Carol Buffington at 826-0080 to arrange for pick-up.
