Cochise County booths highlight services, give information at the Fair
Cochise County has partnered with the County Fair Association as a co-sponsor this year to celebrate the 85th Annual Cochise County Fair, Thursday - Sunday, Sept. 24 - 27 at the Fairgrounds in Douglas. The County will have six booths at the fair, grouped together at the north end of the commercial building (opposite end from stage). The purpose of the County's involvement is to highlight the breadth and variety of services provided by the County and to illustrate Cochise County government's contributions to the quality of life in Cochise County.
Each of the booths has a theme and most booths involve staff from several county departments. Over 100 County employees are volunteering to work at the booths over the four days of the Fair.
Board Chairman Ann English has also arranged for many of the County's elected officials to be on hand to meet with the public and answer questions. Elected officials are scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday - look for the sign "Meet Your Elected Official" at one of the booths-Schedule is online @ www.cochise.az.gov
Themes for this year's booths and the departments involved with each booth are:
Conservation and Use of Natural Resources: Solid Waste Management / Recycling; Water Conservation
Community Development: Planning & Zoning; Highways; Economic Development & Tourism
Cochise County: Past, Present & Future: "Meet Your County Elected Official"; Board of Supervisors; Clerk of the Superior Courts; County Treasurer; Court Administration
Public Safety: Sheriff's Office: Search & Rescue; Neighborhood Watch; Watch Your Car programs
Elections: Elections Department & Recorder's Office
Health & Human Services: Health Department, Cochise Aging & Social Services & Housing Authority
Some residents are unaware of the scope of services offered by the County. It is hoped the displays will help to broaden the public's perception of County services and illustrate the positive impact County workers have on the quality of life in Cochise County.
Visitors to the County's booths will be able to register to vote, or update their registration; get the facts on Tenants Rights; learn about Support for Caregivers; obtain information about applying for a passport; learn about immunization clinics and more.
