Bears close Reef campground

Reef Campground in the Huachuca Mountains will be closed for two weeks beginning July 17 due to black bear activity in the area. The campground, on the Sierra Vista Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest, will be temporarily closed to remove the human influence (food, garbage) that may be tempting the bears to linger in the area.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience to our visitors," said Sierra Vista District Ranger Annette Chavez. "Public safety is of utmost importance. By closing the area for a short time, we can allow the bears to move on, and then resume our recreational activities."

For further information, please contact the Sierra Vista Visitor Center at (520) 378-0311.

Art of healing: grief and growth support group - New group to begin in Willcox

Knowing that you are not alone helps so many people who are grieving their losses. Experience the healing power of being listened to and listening to others. Come share in the mutual support provided at an educational grief support group that will be starting soon. Learn new ways of coping, share sorrow, as well as, laughter and know there is hope that healing can take place. We will be using and learning new skills for dealing with loss; these will include the use of music, humor, aromatherapy, breathing and relaxation, as well as, other ways of expressing ourselves. This group will be eight sessions in length, meeting every other week, and will give you something to look forward to. It is free and open to adults who have had a loved one die. Every person is different in how they grieve and so no healing journey is the same.

Call Ronnie Squyres, MA at (520) 384-5878 (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) for further details. Many people have told me how powerful the group has been in helping them heal their hearts. One woman, who had lost her husband, commented, " it was a safe place to share ...and to grow." You are welcome to call me and see if this may be right for you. The group is FREE.
