Willcox School Board looks for replacement for Moss

Mike Moss has resigned from his position on the Willcox School District Board in a letter dated June 10.
He was first elected in 2000, and has served as vice president of the board twice (each one-year terms). His current term was to end on December 31, 2012.
Reached by telephone, Moss did not wish to give a reason for resigning.
The School Board will consider approval of his resignation at a special meeting today, Wednesday, June 24, at 7 a.m. The board will also set a deadline for letters from parties interested in the seat to be received by the Cochise County Superintendent's Office in Bisbee (address below).
Trudy Berry, superintendent of public schools in Cochise County, recommended the following process for appointing new board members.
The district board must first approve the resignation of the board member and send a copy to Berry's office of the board agenda with the item listed
Send a copy of the resignation letter to Berry's office
Post the vacancy at regular posting locations and a local publication, if available
The district board must set a deadline for interested people to write letters to Berry at P.O. Drawer 208, Bisbee, 85603
After the deadline, Berry will call the remaining board members and the Superintendent of the district to discuss the applicants and determine a replacement
Berry's office sends verification letters to board members and applicants
Berry's office sends three Certificates of Appointment to be signed. They should be sent back to her office for final signatures and will be resent
Appointee must be sworn in by an elected official or a notary 24 hours in advance of a meeting in which they wish to vote
