Fourth of July Briefs

Willcox Elks Lodge annual swim meet

Willcox Elks Lodge No. 2131 Swim Meet and Diving Competition is scheduled for Saturday, July 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Willcox Community Pool. Open for ages four to 14. Parent or guardian permission required at the time of registration. Events include: Coin drop, backstroke, freestyle, underwater swim, and diving competition. There will be a free barbeque and free sodas for participants and parents.

Swimming will be free for the day, beginning at 1 p.m. Thanks to the City of Willcox for its support.


Knights of Columbus BBQ grill raffle

The Knights of Columbus is raffling off a new grill with cooking tools and a BBQ gift basket. The grill is a three-burner unit with a side burner and electric start.

Buy your tickets and have a chance to enjoy your new grill on the Fourth of July. Tickets, which are $1 each or six for $5, will be sold until Thursday, July 2. The drawing will be held on Friday, July 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Need not be present to win. All proceeds will go toward the remodeling of the Knights' chuck wagon. Fireworks show at Willcox High School

The annual Willcox Fourth of July Fireworks Display will begin at dusk Saturday, July 4, at the Willcox High School football field.

The Willcox Volunteer Fire Department will put on the show. Donations are appreciated. In case of rain or high winds, the event will be postponed.
