A Willcox man died as a result of injuries sustained during a rollover wreck Thursday on Ranch House Road near Willcox.
Sixty-one-year-old Bernard Daniel Neal died Saturday at University Medical Center in Tucson, said Loretta McKenzie, hospital spokeswoman.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office had responded to the wreck about one-half mile off of Fort Grant Road at 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
When they arrived, deputies found a 1995 Jeep Wagoneer on all four tires but with extensive body damage, said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
An investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling east on the rough road when the driver lost control after hitting a raised dirt hill, causing the Jeep to roll once before coming to a rest upright, she said.
The driver, Eva Marie Smith, 27, of Willcox, was wearing a seat belt and suffered possible head and internal injuries, as well as minor cuts and abrasions, Capas said.
Neal, who was the passenger, was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled and sustained severe injuries to his head and body, she said.
Smith and Neal were flown by helicopter from the scene to University Medical Center for their injuries.
Smith was released Saturday, McKenzie said.
Hospital officials had said Smith was in fair condition as of Friday evening.
