2009 Cochise County Spelling Bee
The top spellers in Cochise County will gather on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. at Buena High School in Sierra Vista to compete in the 2009 Cochise County Spelling Bee. Spelling bees continue to be a great American tradition and are an excellent way to promote and honor academic excellence.
Preliminary classroom and school-wide competitions were held around the county to determine each school's winner. Thirty-two students, representing their respective schools, will participate in the contest sponsored by Trudy Berry, the Cochise County School Superintendent.
The winner of the Cochise County Spelling Bee will advance to the Arizona State Spelling Bee to be held March 28, at the KAET-Channel 8 Studios. The 27 top County and Regional spellers from across Arizona will compete to determine who will represent Arizona in the National Spelling Bee.
Parents, school administrators, teachers, students and friends are invited to attend the Cochise County Spelling Bee to lend support to the participants.
