PEARCE

POST OFFICE HOURS: To provide more convenient access to postal services for local residents during the holiday season, the Pearce Post Office at 107 N. Frontage Rd. will open its retail lobby from 8 to 11 a.m. on the next two Saturdays before Christmas Day (Dec. 13 and 20 ).

The Post Office's regular weekday hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"We're happy to offer these special Saturday hours to help Pearce residents get gifts and greetings shipped off to family and friends in time for the holidays," Tucson Postmaster William Bothman said. He urged customers to mail early and to visit usps.com/holiday for mailing tips and deadlines.

SUNSITES

FIRE DEPT. MEETINGS: The Sunsites Pearce Fire Department Board will hold work group meetings every Thursday (except Christmas) in December. These meetings are open to the public and will be held on the 11th, and 18th, at 5:30 p.m. at the SPFD station at 105 Tracy Road in Sunsites.

FARAWAY RANCH OPEN HOUSE: Saturday, Dec. 13, from noon to 4 p.m. Chiricahua Nationa Monument staff will be hosting a holiday open house at Faraway Ranch.Nestled at the entrance to Bonita Canyon, Faraway Ranch was the homestead of Swedish immigrants, Neil and Emma Erickson. By the 1920s, paying customers from around the world were enjoying the hospitality of daughter, Lillian, and her husband, Ed Riggs, at one of Arizona's first guest ranches. The home will be decorated for Christmas like the family did and it will be a rare opportunity to see the second floor rooms.
