Food collection for the hungry in the community

Food collection: As the economic worries of our country deepen, more people in our community have lost jobs and homes. Trinity Lutheran Church is collecting non-perishable foods to help the hungry in our community.

The donations will go toward Christmas Boxes at the Willcox Community Food Pantry.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match this community collection for the purchase of perishable items. Please look for the collection boxes in several locations in town and please donate your extra.

Advent Lunch Dec. 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church

Often women are overwhelmed by the preparations for the season that include gift purchase, holiday baking, festive cooking, children's programs, and extra parties in addition to the commitments of a regular routine. We tend to lose ourselves in the externals while the spiritual reason for Christmas becomes dim or lost.

Trinity Lutheran Church invites the women of Willcox to participate in a time of peace and contemplation prior to the hectic Christmas season. Join us for food, fellowship, singing and an inspiring speaker. There is no charge, but reservations are required.

This event is funded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. This event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 111 North Bisbee Ave. The speaker will be Marilyn McClure on "Waiting for What?" Call 384-2155 and leave a message to reserve your place.
