More than 100 people were arrested in three days last month, including 23 in Cochise County, in a statewide, multi-agency effort to apprehend those with outstanding warrants.

From Oct. 22 through Oct. 24, Operation Can't Hide combined the efforts of federal, state, county and local law enforcement to arrest 116 individuals with a total of 135 felony warrants across the state, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

In Southern Arizona, a total of 43 felony arrests were made in Cochise, Santa Cruz, and Pima Counties.

In Cochise County, 23 people, including one juvenile, were arrested for warrants on charges including domestic violence, burglary and possession dangerous drugs.

Agencies involved in the sweep in the county included the Willcox Police Department, U. S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, the Douglas Police Department, the Sierra Vista Police Department, and the Bisbee Police Department.

"These types of results are exactly what the governor had in mind when she directed the Arizona Department of Public Safety to create a statewide team to address the thousands of fugitive arrest warrants in the state," Arizona DPS Director Roger Vanderpool.

Of the 23 arrests made in Cochise County, two Willcox area residents were arrested:

  • On Oct. 22, Eric B. Perez, 25, was arrested for four misdemeanor warrants out of the Willcox Justice Court No. 4 for failure to appear on dog that bites, dog at large without vaccination, driving on a suspended license, and reckless driving-criminal damage charges in the city of Willcox. His bond amounts were $1,364, $1,576, $1,476 and $2,640.

  • On Oct. 22, Dennis Weaver, 40, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant out of the Willcox City Court for failure to appear on reckless driving charges in the city of Willcox. His bond amount was $1,020.

"The work of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, or VCAT, will continue," Vanderpool said, and he congratulated everyone who participated in Operation Can't Hide.

"They've made communities across the state safer today," Vanderpool said.
