Tom Horne, Chief Superintendent of Arizona's schools, released the AZ Learns Profile. The Profile identifies schools' performance based on how they do on the AIMS. There are a total of 1,875 schools. The schools can be labeled Failing to Meet Academic Standards, Underperforming Standards, Performing, Performing Plus, Highly Performing or Excelling. For the last five years, we have been at Performing Plus. Last year's AIMS scores moved us to highly performing.

We are ahead of Douglas, Willcox, Tombstone, Bisbee who are all at Performing Plus. We also beat Buena and Bowie who are Performing. Only a few schools were excelling in Cochise County -- St. David, Benson and Cochise.Mr. Taylor said, "I am very excited for the students, the staff and the community. I think it defines how great Valley Union is. However, I know we can achieve more next year. I'd love to see our school be an exceeding school. I challenge the students, teachers, the administration and the board to meet this goal next year."
