More important than $

In today's edition of Range News - a Mr. Sidney Brooks wrote another of his whining diatribes about closing the Bowie School to save money. Over the past few years, I have seen the results of the Bowie School system. Three examples are my own grandchildren. I don't care what the cost is.

I grew up in a small town just like Bowie. Eleven were in my senior class in high school. That school was almost closed. But the wise board members knew that upon closing, not only would the one-on-one caring education stop, the community would start to fall apart. The school in a small rural town is the hub of the community. It holds the fiber of the town together. Something larger towns no longer experience, sadly.

OK, Mr. Brooks, our taxes went up. The return on that investment is priceless: our children, our grandchildren and all the things that are held together by the simple presence of the school.

Stop whining, Mr. Brooks. Like it or leave it.
