The Arizona Newspapers Association awarded a first-place and two second-place honors to the Arizona Range News during its Excellence in Advertising competition in May.

Graphic artist Maxine Carter was given a first-place award for her promotional ad series on "Getting your business seen" in the business and professional directory weekly section of the Willcox newspaper.

Carter and advertising representative Steve Reno were also honored for second-place in the best black and white ad category for "Answer the Call," an ad representing the Save the Hospital committee's 2007 campaign.

A second-place award was also garnered in the best black and white paid ad series for a Coronado Vineyards series promoting the winery's special events.

The Willcox newspaper competed in the category for non-daily Arizona newspapers with a circulation of less than 3,500. Some other newspapers that competed in that category included Benson's San Pedro Valley News-Sun (a first and second place winner), the Copper Era of Clifton, Coolidge Examiner, Florence Reminder, Lake Powell Chronicle, and Verde Valley Independent, among several others.
