Cowboys at Heart
On Saturday, Feb. 9, the National Day of the Cowboy organization held its first fundraising event in Willcox. I was not sure what to expect since I've only been in Willcox two months, but I want the community to know how gratified I am with the wonderful way the event turned out.
All in all, Cowboys at Heart seemed to be a big hit with everyone who attended. Of course, a large portion of the credit for that success goes to the many people and businesses who supported me in my fundraising endeavor. A special thanks goes to Delcie and Larry Schultz at the Rex Allen Museum for providing frequent direction to me, the new kid on the railroad block. Also thanks to the City of Willcox, the Willcox Chamber of Commerce, Darlene Rodriquez, Hector Figueroa, and the events committee. I could not have enjoyed my own event nearly as much as I did, had it not been for the volunteers who came to ramrod the last minute details for me, like Michelle Mullins and Zia Bischoff and artist Joshawa Cloud, who manned my store all day so I could come and go as needed.
The following list includes the many others to whom I'd also like to express my heartfelt gratitude for their volunteer time, the services they provided and the donations they made to the event and to the raffle and auction. I could not have put this event together for the community without the help of so many caring people and supportive businesses.
Thank you to Arbuckle Coffee, Arizona Beef Council, Arizona Range News, Ben Martin, Best Western Plaza Inn, Bonita Beans, Carol Wien, Catherine Devine, Carol Broeder, the Center for Cowboy Ethics, Charles Phillips, City of Willcox, Corene Schwab, Days Inn Willcox, Darlene Rodriquez, Dave Bonner, Mike McGee, Eurofresh, Friends of Marty Robbins, Gail Dudley, Hector Figueroa, Vi Tara of Highway 50 Wagon Train, James P Owen, Jean & Ferrell Anderson, Joshawa Cloud, Kip Farnsworth, Lance Valdespino, Maggie Bryce, Maid Rite Feeds, Marg Nelsson, Margo at the Bar-D Ranch, Tom Schoolcraft, Michelle Mullins, Mike Kevil, Radio Shack, Rex Allen Days Committee, Rex Allen Museum, Rob Bandhauer, Robert Dawson, Robin Dubois, Sharon Wysocki, Summit Safeway, Ted Arness, Ted & Kathi Fuchs, Tom Paul Schneider, Valley Telecom, Western Horseman Magazine, and the Willcox Safeway
Again, thank you all so very much for making me feel I and my organization are a welcome addition to your community.
