Free diabetes course begins at NCCH Feb. 6
Anne Hummel, RN and Certified Diabetes Educator, will be presenting her free diabetes course in Willcox beginning Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m. with registration at the Northern Cochise Community Hospital at 901 West Rex Allen Drive. The six-session twelve-hour course will continue on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. through March 12.
Several milestone research studies during the last decade have proved that 60-80 percent of the complications of diabetes can be prevented by keeping blood sugars well controlled. People who have been diagnosed with pre diabetes can prevent diabetes from developing by losing weight and exercising. This course is appropriate for people with diabetes, pre diabetes, their families and friends who support them and the professionals who treat them. All areas of diabetes self care and management will be discussed: medications, dietary management, exercise, stress management, complications, foot care, monitoring, and new technology are some examples.
No registration prior to Feb. 6 is required. Course materials will be provided with the free course. Directions to the hospital may be obtained by calling (520) 384-3541 ext. 294.
