Not community oriented

I was surprised this week to see the marquee at the Baptist church read, "Mormonism is not Christianity." My family has lived in this community for nearly two years and we have enjoyed it. We have appreciated other area churches and their programs and the fact that they make them available to anyone that wants to participate.

My children have had the opportunity to engage in wholesome activities at local churches with others and have not been slandered for the church which they attend. I have appreciated the closeness of people in this community and their willingness to love one another despite what religion they are.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I believe in Jesus Christ. I have accepted him as my Savior. I know that my Church teaches that we cannot be saved without his infinite atonement for our sins.

I don't know what the motives were for having a message like this on their marquee. If they have a particular partiality toward another presidential candidate who is a Baptist running against a Mormon then that's fine, but displaying false information about another religion does not draw a small community closer.

If anyone wants to know what Mormons believe, they are more than welcome to attend our church on any Sunday.
