Scott M. Van Tine is the new Patrol Agent in Charge (PAIC) for the Willcox Border Patrol station.
He assumed his duties Aug. 20, said Public Information Officer Michelle Chacon in a statement issued Sept. 16.
Van Tine is a 29-year veteran of the Border Patrol who began his career in Deming, N.M.
He was assigned to the Willcox Station in August 2001 and has served previously as Acting PAIC, Assistant PAIC, Field Operations Supervisor, and Supervisory Border Patrol Agent for that station, Chacon said.
During his career with the Border Patrol, Van Tine has served as a Supervisory Sector Canine Coordinator, Canine Coordinator, Canine Instructor, and Canine Handler.
Van Tine was active in the union and served as President of National Border Patrol Council Local 2724, she said.
"PAIC Scott M. Van Tine brings a wealth of experience to the Tucson Sector, in what continues to be the busiest corridor in the United States," the statement said. "His leadership skills will enhance the Border Patrol ability to continue its mission against illegal activity."
Van Tine replaces former Patrol Agent in Charge Jeffrey A. Calhoon, who had served at the Willcox Station since July 1995, and left in June to become Deputy Chief Patrol Agent for the Yuma Sector.
