Electrical fire Monday leaves family in need of clothing

A Willcox family is in need of help after their home caught on fire at about 4 a.m. Monday.
The home at 546 N. Biddle belongs to John and Lisa Dorward.
The fire, which started in an electrical outlet, destroyed one bedroom and did "lots of smoke damage," said Patti Ackerson-Rodriguez, the city's assistant fire chief.
"If we hadn't got there when we did, the kitchen would have probably been on fire, as wall as the living room and hallway," she told the Range News.
"It was just starting to get to where it was burning other parts of the house."
Eight firefighters and two structure engines fought the fire for about two hours, Ackerson-Rodriguez said.
The family was home at the time, but no one was injured.
"One of the kids woke up and told the family to get out," Ackerson-Rodriguez said.
While the home was not completely destroyed by the fire, possessions were lost.
A family friend told the Range News that sons Bryce, 17, and Michael, 7, are in need of clothing.
Donations may be made in care of Rey Martinez, Southeast Arizona Food Bank, Inc., 401 E. Maley St., (520) 384-4433.
