Attorneys huddle with City Council
By CAROL BROEDER/Arizona Range News
The Willcox City Council went behind closed doors last Monday night to discuss "administrative complaints."
Tucson attorney Angela M. Martinez attended the session along with City Attorney Jim Holland and all seven city council members. No other city staffers were present.
Martinez is with the firm of Lewis and Roca, and specializes in employment and labor law.
She is "responsible for representing the city," Holland told the Arizona Range News.
The session was listed on the council agenda as follows:
"Discussion or consultation with the attorneys of the public body in order to consider its position and instruct its attorneys regarding the public body's position in pending or contemplated litigation. Regarding Administrative complaints."
Contacted last Tuesday morning, Mayor Mick Easthouse was asked to comment on the session that lasted nearly 75 minutes.
"The council voted unanimously to allow the lawyers to proceed," he said.
Easthouse did not elaborate.
No further information was available at press time. Details of executive sessions are secret.
